Aka Buddhist Pine or Chinese Yew. The Podocarpus is a dense evergreen with pointed, leathery, dark green leaves arranged on stiff, symmetrical branches. The tree which is unisexual, has male flowers in cones and female flowers composed of cylindrical thickened scales. The fruits are edible, pendiculate, fleshy and brightly colored. New floiage appears light green in color that turns darker with age. Our tree is trained in the traditional bonsai style with a curved trunk and tiered branches. Grows very well albeit slowly indoors.

The navigator Louis Antoine de Bougainville (1729-1811) gave his name to this genus. Originally from tropical and subtropical America. Popularly known as the "Paper Flower". Very delicate deep pink flowers that look like paper, hence the name "Paper Flower". Actually, the flowers are bracts of leaves at the tip of the stems that turn brilliant pink in color. Likes sun and warm temperatures.

BONSAI BOY'S WIRE BONSAI TREE SCULPTURE - COPPER OAK WITH HAMMERED LEAVES 19HX18WX18D

Made of 20 and 26 gauge solid copper wire. The interior of the sculpture is composed of the heavier wire for strength. The outer layers are created using the thinner wire for a finer texture. The ends of every twig are hammered flat to create the leaves. This piece has already begun to patina producing a soft green color. The base is a very heavy 8"x1.5" solid clear glass container. The sculpture is mounted into the base using a bonding agent mixed with sea sand and small pebbles. The sea sand and smaller pebbles are painted yellow, green and white and giving the effect of moss.
