FLORIDA GARDENING

Bi-monthly publication includes articles covering all aspects of interest to home gardeners in Florida.

SOME OF THE CUSTOMER REVIEWS ABOUT THIS MAGAZINE [SAMPLE]

1) Very helpful for Florida gardeners of all levels - This is not a large magazine, but it gets right to the point. It's great for the new Floridian who is learning which plants to plant where and when in their yard, and it is also helpful for those of us who have been here for a few years and are looking to try growing something new! The advice columns are particularly helpful, and the calendar of upcoming shows and plant fairs is nice, too.

2) Specific gardening information - Florida Gardening This magazine is specifically for Florida's unique gardening conditions, especially from Sarasota south. It's geared more toward tropical/semi-tropical plants and is invaluable for gardeners new to the southern part of the state. Pictures are gorgeous.

SMALL FARM TODAY : TOTAL CONCEPT SMALL FARMING GARDENING AND R

Discusses alternative and traditional crops, livestock, and direct marketing, designed to help make small and family farmers profitable and sustainable.

SOME OF THE CUSTOMER REVIEWS ABOUT THIS MAGAZINE [SAMPLE]

1) Eclectic regional publication - SFT takes a rather unsteady stance over the span between regional/local publication to broader, national interest magazine. It appears that it was recently more of a local (Missouri) publication that is seeking to reach a wider audience. Or perhaps I was just that broader audience seeking something that wasn't really there. The articles can be interesting but the ads and conference announcements are 99% Missouri-centric. For the money it is not really worth it. (They also persist in carrying an ad in every issue with an enticing a tractor deal that has a dead www link and seems to be some sort of scam. A bit "sketchy" as my son would say.)

BBC GARDENERS WORLD

This magazine offers ideas, advice, and inspiration to all gardeners. Each issue gives you a unique link to BBC gardening experts, such as Alan Titchmarsh with many experts writing exclusively for the magazine.

SOME OF THE CUSTOMER REVIEWS ABOUT THIS MAGAZINE [SAMPLE]

1) Highly Reccomend - If you enjoy gardening, then this is the magazine for you. Gardner's World is a tome of gardening how-to. It includes reviews of plants, projects, gardening-related news blips and so much more. While the magazine if based out of the UK, and I live in California, I still find it useful and inspiring. This and Organic Gardening are the only gardening magazines that I have found to avail any useful information whatsoever. If buy no other gardening literature and keep the magazines you order you still will have built a praiseworthy gardening library.

2) Best gardening mazazine out there - The BBC Gardeners World magazine is the best gardening magazine that I have ever seen. I receive at least 10 other gardening magazines (most are monthly) and I am most impressed with the Gardeners World. There are many beautiful photos and great articles by a number of well-respected gardeners. They touch on a lot of different areas of gardening, i.e. composting, soil quality, new plant selections, before and after pictures of gardens, make it yourself garden projects, and much more. It is more pricey than other magazines (mostly related to the air shipment) but it is a definite treat for yourself or a very special gift for someone who wouldn't spend the money on themselves.

We cover vegetable, flower, fruit, herbs and landscaping with an emphasis on using native and adapted plants and proven organic techniques and products that are both effective and good for the environment. Our experienced and knowledgeable cadre of gardening experts and writers will help you garden more successfully under our tough Texas conditions.

SOME OF THE CUSTOMER REVIEWS ABOUT THIS MAGAZINE [SAMPLE]

1) Excellent Texas gardening mag - It's hard to find good information that really applies to Texas gardening. I enjoy lots of gardening magazines, but most of them are East-coast centric and simply don't apply to our state's unique gardening requirements. This magazine is excellent and just what I was looking for. I would recommend it to beginning or experienced gardeners alike.

PHOENIX HOME AND GARDEN

Phoenix Home and Garden magazine is renowned as the premier guide to affluent Southwest living. From grand ideas for the home to magical makeovers for the garden, this publication provides inspiration for transforming your home into a relaxing retreat.

SOME OF THE CUSTOMER REVIEWS ABOUT THIS MAGAZINE [SAMPLE]

1) A MUST FOR ANY ARIZONA RESIDENT - Phoenix Home and Garden is easily one of the best "home and garden" type magazines currently available. I highly recommend it to anyone with a flair (or even a modicum of interest) for design and a desire to live comfortably in a low maintenance home situated in ANY desert environment. They've left nothing out!
A typical issue might include several dynamic design solutions, i.e. for custom lighting, creative storage, etc.
In depth interviews with architects and designers who bring decades of experience to the table and offer hot new ideas for age old problems. Feature stories showcasing creative renovations or simple design solutions that bring life back to tired, sun baked Arizona homes are always full of wonderful surprises that range from easy do at home to the more difficult and challanging projects for professionals.
There are still more interviews with interesting people "in the news" and terrific stories about some of AZ's more facinating historical personages and locales. You'll find a variety of miscellaneous interest stories about upcoming exciting events to attend in Arizona. In fact, the last several pages of the magazine are dedicated to hundreds of listings (and contact information) for places to go, things to do, and people to see, including (but not limited to) benifits and fund raisers, wine tastings, and tours. There are pages upon pages of listings for the various theatre groups, opera performances, symphony and ballet performances, as well as numerous listings directed towards childrens performing arts. I particularly appreciate the listings for the exhibits and shows at the many museums and cultural arts centers. There are listings for special events, fairs, dance and music concerts and cultural festivals, including the much anticipated Sadona Jazz Festival (a personal favorite)! The featured artists and magnificant art exhibitions at the numerous gallerys and museums are also listed, sometimes with showcase insets to wet your appetite.
Awards cerimonies, marketplaces, planetarium shows, expos, golf tours, the list goes on and on.
Of course no desert home and garden publication would be complete without the requisite articles about the use of outdoor architure to capture and frame the scenic desert mountains, or the fabulous landscaping ideas that include low maintainence gardening tips (that everyone can appreciate). Even several of AZ's garden societies are listed with their contact information.
I always look forward to trying any of the dozens of recipes from some of Arizona's popular restaurants and world famous chefs. Hundreds of restaurants are listed by catagory, i.e. international, continental, french, italian, mexican, southwestern, asian, etc. You will also find a few schedules for cooking classes hosted by some of AZ's most prestigeous culinary schools and/or chefs.
Special editions, including the popular Physicians issue, are practical and extremely handy to have as convenient reference guides.
All in all, this is THE magazine!

2) Phoenix Home and Garden - We purchased Phoenix Home & Garden as a gift for our daughter last Christmas. Our daughter is a designer in the Phoenix area, loves the publication and uses it frequently in her work. The last purchase was a renewal for Christmas 2008.

The only problem was a coordination issue between Amazon and the publisher. After renewing I received an email stating the subscription order had been received and the first issue should be received in October. The original subscription did not expire until January. I had to make a couple call to find out the transaction would have been handled as a renewal in spite of what the email said. I think such information should be made available at the time of renewal.

GARDEN AND GUN

Garden and Gun represents a celebration of Southern Lifestyle at its best. Offering lush photography and top quality editorial. It also delivers a unique look at outdoor sporting activities  fine dining, personal style and design, and travel destinations throughout the South.

SOME OF THE CUSTOMER REVIEWS ABOUT THIS FLOWER/PLANT [SAMPLE]
1) Awesome magazine! - I am a strictly Southern Accents, Traditional Home, Southern Living type of girl, so I surprised myself by picking up Garden and Gun while I was having my hair done. Even more to my surprise, I loved it, so much so that I ordered a subscription. Garden and Gun is a portrait of Southern life at its finest...no stereotypes here, thank goodness. It has all the decorating, gardening, and cooking features that I look for in my favorite magazines, as well as articles I would never normally read but find fascinating. Who knew that this anti-hunting gal would enjoy an article on Davis Love's hunting cabin? Or would read with enthusiasm an article on famous race horses of the 1800's? I love this magazine so much that I have already given several subscriptions as gifts.

2) Southern Charm with a Modern Sensibility - I first saw G&G at my eye doctor's office. He's originally from Louisiana. When I saw the name I knew my husband would like it. We both grew up in New England and have never lived in the south or spent any time there but we both really enjoy this magazine. Beautiful photographs and excellent writing on a wide variety of subjects: food, music, art, books, dogs, nature conservation, architecture and design and of course gardens and guns. My husband grew up hunting and fishing but since we moved to Santa Fe he has had little opportunity. The articles in this magazine let him 'hunt' vicariously at the perfect quail shoot, dream about owning a $100k shotgun, or plan a dream vacation of eating crab at all the best places. This magazine shows the best country and cosmopolitan sides of the New South and makes us yearn for the gracious life style it depicts.
